Novels
The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared (Jonas Jonasson) – the improbable Zelig-like adventures of the eponymous centenarian which as an unexpected bonus starts in Malmköping, site of the Swedish tram museum.

Gone Girl (Gillian Flynn) – a masterfully deceiving thriller that resolves into a comparison of obsessive versus companionable love.

Donna Tartt’s Goldfinch and The Secret History. Weighty tomes, exploring youthful grief, guilt and indiscriminate drug-taking. It’s just as well there are adorable characters like Boris to move the action along.
